As a Publisher of a medical journal, we have 'legitimate interests' in facilitating the access of healthcare professionals to our free or paid for clinical and other articles, understanding and improving the value of our product to medical audiences, and marketing The Practitioner to health professionals in different countries.

Information you give us for access to articles on The Practitioner's website and to receive newsletters
To access at least some articles on the website and receive typically 2 email newsletters a month you become a Registered user.
Data given by you to become a Registered user of the website: Email address; password; title; first name; last name; country; special interest; position; job title. The password that you create is private to you as it is held encrypted within our website system which is built and administered by Eonic LLP (Eonic's GDPR statement). Paying subscribers will insert a Web Id in their account to receive full access to the website.
Newsletter preferences: We send out at least one e-mail newsletter a month when a new issue of the journal is fully uploaded. Typically there will be a maximum of two (or rarely three) emails a month. Our website database and newsletter panel is integrated with Campaign Monitor to ensure your subscribe/unsubscribe preferences are respected.
Additional information you give us when registering for a free trial of The Practitioner: We occasionally provide a free trial of The Practitioner in print to doctors in specific countries. This involves you giving your contact details, including your postal address to supply you with the copies. In the UK, you may also be asked for your GMC number.
Surveys: Occasionally, we conduct an Editorial survey of a group of The Practitioner's print readers for an insight into how they use and value The Practitioner in their professional lives and peer group interactions, so that we can further improve The Practitioner editorially and demonstrate to prospective subscribers and advertisers how peer professionals value The Practitioner.
Information you give our subscription house directly for purchases
Subscriptions to the journal and of PDFs of articles is made through our subscription house Turpin Distribution. (Turpin's privacy statement). We have access to Turpin reports on past and current subscribers, enabling us to fulfill our contractual obligations and to contact lapsed subscribers.
